NOTES ON OUR PUMPS: Do not confuse our linear piston pumps with cheaply made imitations currently on the market, nor should these units be compared to ‘diaphragm’ pumps
masquerading as Linear pumps. Also beware of misleading specs being quoted by other manufactures and resellers. Compare outputs at a given pressure: “1.5 c.f.m; 6 p.s.i.” does NOT mean 1.5 CFM @ 6 PSI.
All of our pumps are quoted output in either LPM (liters per minute) or CFM (cubic feet per minute) @ pressure. This rating does not mean it is the highest pressure (PSI), or output (CFM or LPM) that the pumps
will produce. It only indicates the output at that rated pressure. Maximum pressure and output on our pumps is higher than rated. Pressure/output are inversely proportional on the Linear Piston and Diaphragm designs.
Quoted output specifications for all of our pumps are verified by our own testing. We do not just copy manufacturer’s literature nor other web-sites specs as other less knowledgeable resellers or ‘box
pushers’ will do. When you purchase your equipment from us, you can be assured we understand the products we are selling. This way you receive the appropriate product and can be confident it is functioning as was
designed. If you ever have any problems with our equipment we are qualified to evaluate and repair if needed.
Wattage ratings can be quoted in a likewise misleading manner. Watts should be listed at output or pressure since ‘watts used’ is proportional to output flow; e.g., 80 watts @ 3 CFM for our LPH80. This same
pump can realize 38 watts @ 0.4 CFM! Would you ever be operating your pump at those conditions? No, hopefully not, since the output of 0.4 CFM is almost no flow, i.e. fully restricted. We quote our specifications in
terms closer to your real life operating conditions for proper comparison, not just to show numbers which look better at first glance.
Our Linear Piston Air Pumps have high volume outputs with low noise levels (far quieter than Blowers and more economical to operate). Can be located directly in Fish Room with no concern for noise level. They operate on
a floating piston principle, which means minimal maintenance as compared to Diaphragm designs needing periodic diaphragm(s) replacement. Also with the Linear Piston design there is no need to be concerned about loss of
air supply (while you are not available to service it) due to diaphragm failure. These units are made of the highest quality materials and workmanship. This is a precision machined piece of equipment utilizing high tech
components such as a proprietary surface treated cylinder and Teflon lined Cast Aluminum air bearing piston with internal components machined and fitted to exacting tolerances. These are features not found with the
imitations.
We also offer a line of quality Diaphragm pumps for a lower cost alternative to the Linear Piston series. Our mid-size diaphragm pumps (DAPMH8 and DAPMH15, DAPMH20 and our new DAPPH30, will fit the
smaller breeding set-up for a reasonable price yet provide far more air than conventional Aquarium Diaphragm pumps with a more reliable diaphragm providing a lower frequency of diaphragm replacement. Our large Diaphragm
pumps can provide higher flow rates at a lower cost than other designs with very low energy consumption and the ability to pump to deeper water depths.
Regenerative Blowers provide the highest volume of air per dollar spent in purchase cost, but only make sense if you need hundreds of outlets. The correct pump for your application should be the goal and we will help you reach that goal.
NOTES ON SIZING: Outlet specs can be misleading. Depth of water, type of diffuser or no diffuser, clean versus dirty diffuser, and the amount of
flow from each outlet, all play a role in output specs. Some companies will quote 1.6 CFM @ 2 PSI can power 60 tanks. This claim may be stretching this pump spec's capacity for most users! Our #LPH45 with similar specifications will realistically handle 25-35 outlets with diffusers at a high volume flow rate. Unless of course a majority of your tanks are very small, as Killifish Breeders use, then you will realize much more than 35 outlets. In any case, we
don't recommend over sizing by too much since you are just paying for unused capacity and the extra electricity usage as well as risking damage to the pump. If you have a large Fish Room, Hatchery or Retail Store,
with hundreds of outlets, one of our Regenerative Blowers may suit your needs. Please call, we will gladly discuss your application and help you choose the correct size pump. Each installation is different and requires proper sizing to insure the pump you purchase suits the application.
All pumps are supplied with fittings and adapters to connect to your PVC distribution piping. Use Schedule 40 PVC available locally to you.
ALSO AVAILABLE are pre-built Air Manifolds
with 6, 8, 12 or 20 valves installed. Excellent for beginner Fish Rooms. We can also provide assistance with the design and layout of your Central Air System at No Charge when you purchase a pump from us.
